The cigar in question? Gurkha Cigar Company’s His Majesty’s Reserve premium cigar- billed as the most expensive cigar in the world. A single piece of this luxurious cognac-infused cigar costs over Rs. 1.3 lakhs. That makes it almost 3700 bucks for every puff of premium tobacco you draw in your mouth, taste, and then blow out.
Hand-rolled in the Dominican Republic, the cigars feature an 18-year old broadleaf Connecticut Maduro wrapper and aged tobacco leaves infused with an entire bottle of 40-year old Louis XIII Remy Martin Cognac- a blend of 1200 Grand Champagne eaux-de-vie that have been aged from 40 to 100 years- a small bottle of which goes for almost 4,000 US dollars.
Manufactured in small batches, a box of this Indian-branded cigar sells for over Rs. 26 lakhs, and fans include A-list Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey- who gave out His Majesty at the birth of their children.
That’s not all. This 7.5 x 52 double corona is extremely rare, too – only 75 of these high rollers are produced in a year, and there’s a three year waiting list. If you’re looking for a guilt-free high, this isn’t one.
